ABOUT THE CHARITY

Fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma is an extremely rare form of liver cancer, which occurs mainly in adolescents and young adults who have no history of liver disease. It is an aggressive cancer and there are few treatment options for it. Little is even known about this disease, as research and funding are limited due to its rarity.

Rebecca Stempel is a 23-year-old graduate student at Boston's Emerson College, where she studies Speech-Language Pathology. She is a talented singer and actress as well, who had been leading a normal, healthy, and active life. In October 2013, Rebecca was diagnosed with stage IV fibrolamellar cancer after surgery revealed malignant growths around her liver. Although the surgeon was fairly convinced that he had removed it all, the disease has since returned, and she is now undergoing chemotherapy. Confronting all this, Rebecca remains unbelievably strong as she deals with issues and concerns most of us cannot begin to fathom. Unfortunetly, insurance only covers a portion of the many expenses associated with this disease and its treatment. So we hope the proceeds of this show will help alleviate the financial stress on her and her family, allowing Rebecca to focus on getting well, while also helping fund further research.
